Lori Heeren joined Nevada SPCA in September 2019 from a 30-year career in radio sales and management that included spearheading numerous animal rescue events including “Pet-a-Palooza” in Las Vegas. Lori originally moved to Las Vegas in 1985 and was most recently the General Manager of Alpha Media Silicon Valley’s radio stations in San Jose, California and previously was the General Manager of Reno Media Group in Reno, Nevada and Director of Sales for CBS Radio in Las Vegas, Nevada.

She is originally a farm girl from South Dakota where her parents still raise numerous animals including a camel and a zebra. She is a graduate of the University of the Pacific Animal Shelter Management program and is the proud mother of 2 human sons, a dachshund named Eva Longoria and 2 tabby cats, Oliver and Sofia.

Ebone joined Nevada SPCA in October 2018 after serving as an Accounting Office Manager for three local businesses. Her love of animals began at a young age with her first job at 15 as a petting zoo attendant at the Detroit Zoo. At 17, Ebone moved to Philadelphia and became the Vice President of an event planning company whose clients included the Philadelphia Eagles, Ursinus College, Drexel University, and the Philadelphia 76ers.

She has been a pet parent to a wide variety of animals like fish, iguanas, dwarf frogs, cats and currently her two rescue dogs, Love and Thor. Ebone is a graduate of the University of the Pacific Animal Shelter Management program and has a wealth of knowledge in payroll, human resources, accounting, event planning and fundraising.

Amy Lee is a long-time resident of Southern Nevada, a UNLV graduate with a B.A. in English and a member of the prestigious Sigma Tau Delta English Honors Society. She also attended University of Reading in England on a scholarship Amy’s career in advertising and marketing included local advertising agencies and Assistant Director of Partnership Marketing at The Venetian and The Palazzo where she worked with global brands.

In 2016, she ran a small, education-based non-profit organization and in 2017, was recognized by Vegas Inc. magazine as one of the city’s “Women to Watch”. Since childhood, Amy has maintained a passion for animals and in 2012, dog named Jasper from a local rescue organization, she became inspired by the plight of homeless animals in the community and began advocating for shelter pet adoptions. She is the proud mom of 2 rescue dogs named Stuart and Heidi. Jasper passed away in 2021 and his legacy continues to inspire her work.

Monique grew in The Netherlands and always loved animals. She moved to the United States as a young adult and worked for the Beagle Freedom Project in California and tirelessly worked to save pigs and other animals from the overseas meat trade, research facilities, and laboratories

Monique joined Nevada SPCA in September 2019 from Las Vegas’ municipal animal shelter where she worked in transport, foster and transfer, and was the coordinator with the owner surrender prevention department. She continues to volunteer with several local animal rescue groups, fosters animals in need, and is on the board of a farm animal sanctuary. She is the current parent of 2 chihuahuas Patsy and Toby, 3 rats and has been a devoted ethical Vegan since 2011.

Steve and his wife moved to Las Vegas in 2016 from a small town outside of Chicago to be closer to his grandchildren f. He has worked in the maintenance/construction industry since 1978, primarily in the healthcare field, and has degrees in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering. Steve joined Nevada SPCA in September 2019 as his first job in animal rescue, although he’s been rescuing dogs his entire life and currently has three shelter dogs.

He is referred to as “MacGyver” in the shelter for his amazing talent at fixing anything.

Originally from New York, Rachel attended college in New York City and entered the field of animal welfare as a volunteer for the New York Aquarium in 2008. Her first experience in animal sheltering was as a foster of two miniature pinschers with the local New York City animal shelter.

Rachel moved to Las Vegas in 2009 and graduated from the College of Southern Nevada’s Veterinary Technology program. She has worked as a licensed veterinary technician with various hospitals and specialty centers, was the Public Relations Manager/Licensed Veterinary Technician with Animal Care Clinic, Inc. (ACCI) in Henderson, NV and joined Nevada SPCA from Mid-West Veterinary Supply in September 2019. She is the proud parent of Buddy the cat.

Megan has long been passionate about animals. During her high school years in Indiana, she founded Teens for Animal Protection and ran the Environmental Club. Megan majored in biology at Indiana State University before moving to Las Vegas. Her career with animals is long and varied: she worked at PetSmart for 13 years as a manager where she worked with all species including exotics, is a certified professional pet stylist and has been an overnight veterinary assistant at a clinic.

Megan has fostered special case dogs, delivered puppies in her home and spends her life with 2 dogs, geckos, salamanders and a backyard urban garden. She is also the founder and president of Vegas Axolotls of Las Vegas.

Cheyane was born in Apple Valley, California and started working in the animal field early at age 15 at a small animal veterinary practice in Barstow, California. She moved to Las Vegas four years ago and worked at Doggie District as a canine evaluator and manager. She joined Nevada SPCA in November 2019 from Rescued Treasures Cat Café in Las Vegas. Cheyane co-founded Lofty Hopes bird rescue last year with her mother and was instrumental in rescuing the “pigeons in cowboy hats” that made Las Vegas headlines. She is the proud mother of 2 beautiful daughters, Scarlette and Violette and still is a seasonal weekend ghost tour guide at Calico Ghost Town. Her personal animals include a mastiff Porter, Edgar the pigeon, Demi the chicken and her small blind dog Lamb Chop.
